The New OFFICIAL Libre App is Coming!

18/07/2025

Believe it or not, in some countries the official LibreLink app was the most popular medical app for a period of time!

It was only a matter of time before a successor appeared — a completely new app built on the experiences of existing users and the manufacturer.

As a reminder, the current app is called LibreLink. It’s available for Android on Google Play and for iPhone App Store.

The biggest point of confusion is the news that a single app will now support all Abbott sensors! Will Abbott continue to restrict the use of, for example, Libre 3 sensors in countries where they are not officially sold? That remains unknown. Still, with a bit of “hacking,” you’ll likely still be able to use the sensor even if it’s not registered in your country — just like before.

What does the new app bring?

🔹 Snooze alarms and better settings! Yes, that situation where you just can’t silence the annoying app will become a thing of the past 😊
🔹 Predictive alarms! When your sugar is still in the normal range but the arrow is pointing down – the app will warn you of an upcoming hypoglycemic episode 😊
🔹 In-app messages – Abbott will be able to send important messages directly within the app
🔹 One app for all sensors – Whether you use Libre 1, Libre 2, or Libre 3, you’ll no longer need different apps. One app fits all.
🔹 Faster and more stable performance – A new platform designed for better performance on modern smartphones
🔹 Better smartwatch integration – The new app will connect more smoothly with smartwatches and fitness devices

When and how?

The new app is already available in some parts of the U.S. and will gradually roll out. LibreLink users will receive a notification within the current app once the upgrade is available. The transition to the new version will be simple — no data will be lost.

In Croatia, we expect it in the second half of 2026.

Fingers crossed!
