Experience with the Equil patch pump

20/02/2025

I have been living with type 1 diabetes for 24 years and am treated by Prof. Dr. Lea Smirčić Duvnjak at Vuk Vrhovac. During several hospitalizations, my therapy was changed multiple times, but I never achieved fully satisfactory results.

I experienced significant daily blood sugar fluctuations, and at night, I often fell into hypoglycemia, which I had not felt for years until my levels were dangerously low. As a result, I suffered two severe nocturnal hypoglycemic episodes, from which my husband saved me.

Because of all this, I had been considering an insulin pump for a long time. I couldn’t decide, partly due to the cost and partly because of the tubing—it all seemed too complicated to me.

Equil - Wellion Tubeless Insulin Pump

Everything changed when a tubeless pump without additional costs became available in all regional countries—Wellion Micro-pump (Equil)—which met all my expectations. It is available in Poland, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia, and beyond.

Through extensive training, in which my husband also participated, I quickly learned how to use the pump. It was incredibly helpful to have access to expert support staff who answered all my questions in a clear and simple manner.

This pump has truly changed my life. My long-standing TIR (Time in Range) was always around 60-65%, and my HbA1c was usually around 7 or higher. Now, after three months of using the pump, my TIR is 80%, and my HbA1c is 6.3. I have never had such good results. I am thrilled! 😊

The pump is easy to use, and I would highly recommend it to anyone struggling with blood sugar regulation. It is simple to apply, has no tubing, and allows for micro-dosing adjustments for basal and bolus insulin delivery, making blood sugar management much easier.

Along with the pump, I also use the Wellion continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor, which has proven to be very accurate. This makes it much easier for me to calculate boluses and carbohydrate intake for meals. Currently, the sensor is not yet integrated with the pump for automatic glucose correction, but this function is expected soon.

Since using the Wellion Micro-pump, I no longer experience nighttime hypoglycemia, my sleep is calm and restful, and I have more energy throughout the day. My daily blood sugar fluctuations are minimal.

This pump works very well with AndroidAPS DIY system.

One major advantage of this pump is that if my blood sugar starts to drop, I can pause insulin delivery, helping me recover from hypoglycemia faster. Once my levels stabilize, the pump resumes operation.

Using an insulin pump has made my life more comfortable, relaxed, and peaceful, and for the first time in many years, my blood sugar levels are truly under control.

Excellent TIR - 80% Time In Range!

That’s why I highly recommend this pump to anyone looking for better diabetes management—I guarantee it will make your life easier, just as it has for me. I hope my experience encourages others to take a step forward for their health and well-being.
